  1. Take metro M3 to Kongens Nytorv.
  2. Change to M2 towards the Airport (Lufthavnen) and get off at Amager Strand.
  3. Walk about 5 minutes to Krimsvej 29. The entrance is in the basement below CPH Studio Hotel.

A relaxed ride combining Copenhagen's harbour, royal quarter and historic Christianshavn. Expect waterfront views, boats, bridges and plenty of places to stop for photos.

Copenhagen Foodie Ride

10 km, 2½–3½ hours with stops, 6 stops

Come hungry. From traditional Danish baking and modern sourdough to the Meatpacking District and street food by the harbour, this route combines cycling with some seriously good food. You don't have to stop everywhere — pick your favourites and make the route your own.

Bike rental in Copenhagen

At Hotelcykler you can rent a bike, an e-bike or a cargo bike in Copenhagen. Pick up your bike at our workshop at Krimsvej 29 on Amager, close to Amager Beach and just 20 minutes from Copenhagen Central Station by metro. We always have bikes in stock, so you can drop by during opening hours or tell us when you're coming.

A city bike costs 175 DKK per day, an e-bike 450 DKK and a non-electric cargo bike 550 DKK. You can return the bike 24/7, and the rental includes 7 bike routes through Copenhagen with audio stories. Need many bikes for a company or an event? We can deliver up to 1,000 bikes a day.

Beer, Bricks and Backstreets

A straight run west from the city centre into the Copenhagen that was built on work rather than kings. Meat halls, workers' streets, a park that doubles as a reservoir, and at the end of it the brewery that paid for half the art in this city. Mostly flat, with one cobbled climb at the very end.

The last stretch up to the Elephant Gate is cobbled and steeper than it looks. Take it slowly, or get off and push — nobody will judge you.

Sydhavnen — the other harbour

40–50 min cycling9 km2½–3 hours with stopsMediumWorking harbour & wild nature

Almost no visitors come here, and that is the point. South-west of the centre the harbour is still a working one: boatyards, allotments, self-built houses and a nature reserve with free-roaming alpacas. You ride under a power station on the way back. Flat the whole way, and mostly on paths away from traffic.

Longer than the other routes and further out, so allow the extra time. The gravel track at Fiskerihavnen is bumpy — take it slowly or walk that short stretch.

Rules

The terms for your rental, your rental agreement and the most important traffic rules.

Rental terms

  1. Price per bike per day: city bike 175 kr, e-bike 450 kr, cargo bike 550 kr. The rental is paid before pickup.
  2. Day 1 is the pickup day and lasts until midnight. A new day starts at 00:00.
  3. The rental runs until the bike and key are returned. If you return later than agreed, you pay for the extra days.
  4. You can return the bike 24/7. Outside opening hours, take a photo of the bike and leave the key at the agreed place.
  5. Always lock the bike with the lock provided, also for short stops. If the bike is stolen while unlocked, you are liable for it.
  6. You are liable for damage beyond normal wear and for lost keys and locks.
  7. You ride at your own risk and follow the traffic rules. You are also responsible when others in your group ride the bike.
  8. In case of theft, an accident or a fault with the bike, call us right away on 42 40 40 14.

Riding in Copenhagen

Locals ride fast and follow the rules. These are the ones that matter most.

  • Keep to the right. Faster cyclists pass you on the left.
  • Signal before you turn. Raise your hand when you stop.
  • To turn left, ride across to the far corner, stop, turn the bike and go on the next green light.
  • Lights are required from sunset to sunrise, front and back.
  • No cycling on pavements or in pedestrian streets.
  • Stop for passengers getting on and off a bus. They go first.
  • Don't hold your phone while riding. You can be fined.
  • Lock the bike every time, also for short stops.

Flat tyre or broken bike

Call us. Walk the bike rather than riding on a flat – it damages the wheel.

Lost key

Call us before you leave the bike.

Stolen bike

Call us right away and we'll help you report it to the police.

Accident

In an emergency, call 112. Then call us.

Before you return the bike

  • Bring back the key.
  • Tell us if anything is broken – it's easier for everyone.
  • Return within opening hours, or any time: take a photo of the bike and leave the key at the agreed place.
  • Check the basket for your things.
